Through the Bible - The Bible in a Year
I strongly advise everyone to read the Bible in its entirety - Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 (or, as one wag put it, "Genesis to Maps"). The aim is just to read every word and get an overview without spending time doing an in-depth study at any point. This means you'll even read those bits you never knew existed.
You can download the schedule and use it to read through your own Bible, or you can download a Bible of your choice already divided and labelled for each day of the year. All documents are in PDF format for reading on your electronic device - computer, smartphone, tablet, Kindle, or whatever.
Each daily portion is divided into an Old Testament reading and a New Testament reading, and will take about half an hour to read. You can read both together, or perhaps the OT passage in the morning and the NT passage in the evening.
The Old Testament readings run straight through from Genesis to Malachi in sequence. The New Testament readings are divided differently, however. First is the Gospel according to Mathew (not "Matthew's Gospel", note!) followed by two of Paul's letters, then Mark followed by more letters, and the pattern repeats with Luke, John and Acts - a major book interspersed with shorter letters.
